Playing - senior team (ages 18+)
The Pirates provide equipment for new
players to try the sport out where possible and have a team of highly experienced coaches capable of both bringing through brand new players and developing the skills of existing players.
Training takes place on Sundays from the beginning of
January on the indoor synthetic pitch at Hamilton Palance Sports Ground and from the end March we move outdoors to Duncanrig High School in East Kilbride, and also add in a midweek session at Hamilton Palace Sports Ground on the grass rugby pitch.
Our season typically runs from
April-August, with the playoffs in September if the team qualifies. Annual subs are currently set at £192 for new players and £264 for returning players. All players are required to pay by standing order. In addition, you will be required to pay your own league registration fee which covers insurance and competition entry - currently £33.50.
If you're interested in trying the
sport, don't hesitate to get in touch. Drop us a line at info@piratesfootball.co.uk to find out when the next training session is. All
you'll need is suitable footwear and clothing and a
gumshield.
You can also find out more about joining the Pirates in our new player information pack.
Coaching The coaching
staff at the Pirates is comprised entirely of volunteers and in
order to support the team and continue to develop as an
organisation, we always welcome new coaches.
You don't need
to be Vince Lombardi to help out, just a basic understanding of
the sport and the necessary skills to deliver information and help
make our players the best they can be. The Pirates will fund
all new coaches through their British American Football Coaches
Association (BAFCA) Level 1 certification and support them in
attending the annual BAFCA convention.

the Pirates, contact us via info@piratesfootball.co.uk
Volunteering
Running a team from year to year is a job
that takes the time and effort of a lot of
people. The Pirates are always on the lookout
for willing volunteers to do whatever they're capable of - from
design to flyering and postering to just about
anything you can think of! You don't need to be able to offer a huge
amount of time, even a few hours here and there can make a
difference.
In particular, making game days a special
event for spectators is important and if you can spare a few hours to lend a hand with the set up and running
of these, your contribution would be welcomed.
